Before treatment instructions:
After treatment instructions:
VPL Hair Removal is an FDA approved cosmetic treatment designed to deliver a pulse or several pulses of light to permanently reduce hair growth. Light energy penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle. Heating occurs, thus damaging the follicle and reducing it ability to re-grow.
Possible side effects include redness and mild swelling. Burns, excessive swelling, blistering and hyper-pigmentation are very rare.
No downtime is needed. Patients can return to normal activities immediately.
How long will my results last?
Hair reduction should be permanent, although the treatment will not eliminate 100% of hair growth. Occasional touch-ups may be necessary.
How many treatments will be needed?
Because individual hairs can only be affected during certain growth cycles, several treatments are necessary. Most people will need between 4 and 6 sessions to achieve desired results.
How long will a treatment session last?
Sessions vary, depending on you needs and the size of the treatment area. Appointments usually range from a 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
What will my treatment feel like?
Most clients experience a tingling, hot sensation. Some describe a stinging sensation, similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most clients agree VPL is less painful than waxing or electrolysis.
Should I remove hair between VPL treatments?
No, you should not pluck or wax hair between treatments. But, you can shave or trim hairs between treatments.
Is VPL Hair Removal suitable of all people?
Patients with keloids, dark skin and recent tans are not ideal candidates. Patients with tans should let their tan fade before treatment. VPL is not recommended for pregnant women because of hormonal and pigmentary changes that occur during pregnancy.
Before treatment instructions:
Patients should not tan or stay in the sun for extended periods of time. Patients should avoid aspirin and other blood thinners.
Avoid sun exposure for 48 hours and wear a strong SPF sunscreen (minimum of SPF 30). Apply a cool compress to reduce any redness and/or swelling.
